This skills workshop is part of our Financial Sector Jobs and Skills Virtual Career Fair happening on 10 - 11 July. Learn more about the fair here. 

Technology, particularly AI like ChatGPT and blockchain, is disrupting the finance industry. A case study by CFTE showed that ChatGPT outperforms 85% of the 4 million programmers assessed on Python on LinkedIn, suggesting a need for broader skills set beyond hard skills. To address this need, CFTE developed the 'SHIME' framework, emphasising Soft skills, Hard skills, Industry knowledge, Mindset, and Experience in the industry.

The skills gap's impact includes talent shortages, struggling small businesses, revenue loss, and limited growth. The several reasons behind this gap, including the rapid transformation of the finance industry, new roles emerging and old ones disappearing, and the lack of adult education systems in many countries will be discussed. Our speaker, Tram Anh will also highlight a few suggestions to address the issue including top-down approaches in organisations to foster an environment of continuous learning.
